Three quick things:
1 - After smelling the stew, I've decided to add some hot Italian sausage. I think it will go well with the flavors I have now! I should probably also buy some bay leaves and throw one in there, because it's part of the "Every Soup Ever" recipe. I am just not sure that I need it, as I really do like the way the flavors are coming together. Oh, and a quick cooking tip: do not use more than one bay leaf. If you scale up a soup recipe, you may feel the urge to use two or three or twenty bay leaves, when the recipe called for only one. Resist this urge. Using a lot of them will make the entire soup taste like cough syrup. Yech.
2 - If you need a plunger, you NEED a plunger. It's never NOT an emergency.
3 - ...I need a plunger.
